July 2010 Issue of the International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning
The latest issue of the International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is now available. The IJ-SoTL is a free, online, peer-reviewed journal in which faculty members from a variety of disciplines share their research into student learning and teaching practices. Although some contributors are education researchers, many are faculty members from outside schools of education investigating their own students’ learning.
Articles in this latest issue include:
- A study of faculty and student understandings of the notion of “critical thinking” in education courses
- Research on the effects on student learning of the use of visual analogies in courses for future ESL teachers
- A report on a shift to a studio model for introductory physics, one that emphasizes active learning and inquiry-based labs
