Course improvement grant spotlight: “Making Innovative learning videos for elementary Japanese classes”
Nozomi Imai, lecturer of Asian studies, recently talked with CFT assistant director Julaine Fowlin about her Course Improvement Grant, “Making Innovative learning videos for elementary Japanese classes.” Last year when we had to shift to remote and hybrid learning, Nozomi created videos to allow her students to learn at their own pace and provide an authentic way to learn Japanese. She found that the videos were effective, and students liked them. In the video interview, she shares how she will be using the course improvement grant to expand her use of videos. Nozomi encourages others to think about a teaching idea or issue they are passionate about and apply for an internal teaching grant. She embraces the fact that all her students come from different linguistic backgrounds and have diverse learning needs. She wants to provide a teaching and learning environment that is accessible and appropriate for everyone. | |
