Resources for Teaching in Times of Crisis

Posted by on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in News.

Given the flooding in and around Nashville, the CFT would like to remind the Vanderbilt teaching community of our “Teaching in Times of Crisis” teaching guide.  Even though it’s finals week, you might find some of the resources and perspectives in the guide useful.

Whether local, national, or international in scope, times of crisis can have a significant impact on the college classroom, especially if students have a personal connection to the crisis. The anxieties students—and teachers—bring into the classroom in response to a crisis at hand can affect student learning.

We started this guide as a response to the events of 9/11, and we’ve revised the guide over the years as the campus has responded to crises both local and national.
