Teaching Assistant Orientation 2023

All new graduate student TAs are invited to the Teaching Assistant (TA) Orientation held annually by the Center for Teaching.  The event offers preparation in effective teaching strategies for the varied teaching duties assumed by TAs, as well as information on campus resources relevant to TA work.  Workshops and practice teaching sessions at the event are led by a staff of experienced TAs, trained and mentored by CFT senior staff.

This year’s TA Orientation will be held remotely on three consecutive mornings: August 14- 16 from 9:00-11:00 AM via Brightspace and Zoom. Participants should plan to dedicate approximately 3 hours in the afternoons of those days to complete all asynchronous activities via Brightspace.  All graduate students beginning their TA duties in 2023-24 are asked to attend, even if they are not first-year students. (Incoming first-year students without TA duties should not attend the event.)  New TAs should register for the event by Friday, July 28, through the CFT website or use this link to register directly.
