The CIRTL Coffee Hour – Online, Informal Conversations for STEM Grad Students and Faculty
The Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) is an NSF-sponsored network of six universities interested in enhancing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education through professional development of future STEM faculty. Vanderbilt is a member of CIRTL, and Vanderbilt STEM grad students, postdocs, and faculty are invited to participate in the new CIRTL Coffee Hour, an online, informal discussion of issues relevant to STEM education.
The first CIRTL Coffee Hour is this Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. Central time. CIRTL’s director, Bob Mathieu (also a professor of astronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison), will share about his recent experience testifying to the US Congress about the state of STEM education. The Coffee Hour will be held in Elluminate, CIRTL’s webinar platform.
CIRTL Coffee Hours will be held every other Wednesday this spring semester. Future topics include teaching and learning online, teaching with technology, and academic career paths. For more details, visit the CIRTL Coffee Hour home page.
