Feminist Pedagogies
Date & Time: Tuesday, October 2 4:10-5:30pm
 

Join us for a discussion of feminist pedagogy, or teaching in ways that are informed by the feminist valuing of community, diversity, experience, empowerment, and a collaborative construction of knowledge.  Panelists and participants will share how they implement these approaches in a variety of disciplines and course types, and what both instructors and students gain from these experiences.

Panelists are:

  • Rory Dicker, Associate Director, Women’s & Gender Studies
  • Julia Fesmire, Senior Lecturer, English, Women’s & Gender Studies
  • David Rubin, Senior Lecturer, Women’s & Gender Studies

Conversations on Teaching focus on emergent teaching and learning issues in an informal, discussion-based format.  These sessions provide members of the Vanderbilt teaching community a chance to share their teaching experiences and learn from each other. Conversations on Teaching typically begin with opening remarks from panelists and then open up to larger group discussions.
