We are delighted to announce that story-teller Clare Murphy, on tour through the United States, will be performing at Vanderbilt on April 1st at 7:00pm in Wilson Hall 126.

In conjunction with her visit to Vanderbilt, she is offering a very special workshop:

STORYTELLING AND THE CRAFT OF TEACHING:  Unlocking Your Passion

Monday, March 31 from
3:00-5:00 p.m.
The Vanderbilt Center for Teaching
1114 19th Ave, South 3rd Floor

In this hands-on workshop, Clare will teach you some of her masterful techniques for weaving a story and commanding the attention of a room, and will work with participants on how to use such skills in the classroom.  Whether you are a new or established teacher, or a soon to be teacher, this workshop will give you some simple techniques, ideas and questions that can help innovate your current approach to teaching.  Clare uses games, play, theatre techniques, and discussion to unlock fears and nerves around public speaking, and introduce you to a skillset that you already possess.

Clare Mureann Murphy has performed in professional and university venues across the United States and in more than 20 countries.  She has performed at the Globe Theater and consulted for the Royal Shakespeare Company in London.  We hope you will be able to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Please RSVP to Sandra Bohn Sandra.j.bohn@vanderbilt.edu to reserve your spot.

Sponsored by the Department of English and the Vanderbilt Center for Teaching
