Motivating Students with Application Projects and Poster Sessions

Posted by on Friday, July 23, 2010 in News.

CFT assistant director Derek Bruff has another guest post on ProfHacker today: “Motivating Students with Application Projects and Poster Sessions.”  In the post, Derek describes an assignment he typically gives in his more “applied” math courses, an application project that gives students a chance to apply the math they have learned in the course to a “real world” problem.  Derek also describes the poster session he typically holds at the end of these courses to give students a chance to share their work with each other.  In the post, Derek focuses on how this assignment motivates his students, and he gives a few tips for administering this assignment in time efficient ways.
