Yes She Can: Examining the Educational and Career Pathways of African American Women in Senior Leadership Positions in 4-Year Public Universities
Ransford Pinto

This qualitative study explores how Black women in senior leadership positions in 4-year public universities in the United States speak about the experiences and characteristics that contribute to their academic achievements, career advancement, and success.

This study’s findings provide insight into the research participants’ family, community, and school support systems and how they navigated the challenges they encountered on their educational and career journeys. The study also reveals that the Black women’s transcendence of racial, gender, and class discriminations became the impetus for developing a leadership style focused on students’ success.
